This exploration requires a group of ten or more people. Give each person a bag of M&M’s. Have each person count the number of brown M&M’s and the total number of M&M’s in his or her bag. In each bag, what percentage of the M&M’s are brown? Are the percentages the same in every bag in the group? Do you think the percentages are the same for every bag sold? Describe the distribution of brown M&M’s in the bags of the group by making a histogram. Label the y-axis “frequency” and the x-axis “number of brown M&M’s.”
