Mystery Envelopes

You are offered a choice to pick between two envelopes. One of the envelopes contains twice as much money as the other. After you pick one of the envelopes, you will have the opportunity to switch to the other one if you want.

You pick one of them and find ten dollars. Without knowing the contents of the other envelope, should you keep your envelope or switch and ask for the other one? Why?
