Creating an Alloy

A certain one pound (16 oz.) alloy of steel is composed of manganese and carbon. There is more carbon present in the sample. However, if you add 2.3 oz. of manganese, the alloy will contain more manganese than carbon. If you include an additional 0.5 oz. of aluminum, your new alloy will contain less than 50% of each element. What percent of manganese could have been in the original sample?
